“When we moved to England at a young age, she was 10, I was 13, and we basically had to look out for each other,” Derek shared exclusively with Closer Weekly. The 34-year-old recalled how the siblings formed an unshakable partnership during those early years. “Growing up, we were like a team—more mature back then than we probably are now,” he said with a chuckle. Now in their thirties, Derek and Julianne have transitioned into a playful sibling dynamic where teasing each other is just as common as supporting one another. “It’s easy to sort of talk and also to check each other, and to see where we are in our life and make sure that we’re in the right emotional or mental state of mind,” Derek continued. Of course, no sibling relationship would be complete without a little friendly competition. “I don’t know what her thing is, but she’s like, ‘I’m a better judge than you,’” Derek joked. While Julianne loves to rib her older brother, Derek remains unfazed. “She’s more competitive with me than I am with her. I’m not competitive with her, she’s competitive with me,” he laughed. But don’t worry—this rivalry doesn’t last long, as the two will soon reunite for a project this Christmas. “Working with my sister is super easy,” Derek admitted, proving once again that their bond is truly unmatched.
