Why Monogamy Is Tough, But Totally Worth It – According To Dean McDermott

Let’s face it – marriage is no walk in the park, and actor Dean McDermott, best known for his role in Open Range, knows this all too well. The actor tied the knot with none other than Tori Spelling back in 2006. After years of being together, Dean has a thing or two to say about why monogamy can be a challenge for some people. But here’s the kicker – it’s also worth every bit of effort.

Monogamy: Why It’s Hard, According to Dean McDermott

Dean recently opened up to Us Weekly about the challenges of staying faithful in a long-term relationship. He explained that it’s not just about the biological drive that makes monogamy tough but also the hard work that comes with maintaining a healthy relationship. “Monogamy is hard for, I guess, several reasons — for wanting that initial lust that we have intrinsically built into us,” Dean said. “Men, we’re wired to spread our seed everywhere. It’s in our DNA for millions of years. There’s that, but then there’s also, ‘Oh, God. This relationship is work.’ And it is. Every relationship is work and when you get to that point, you can’t just walk away. You’ve gotta dig in and work it out.”

Tori Spelling, Dean’s better half, isn’t shy about the challenges of staying faithful either. In a candid conversation on her husband’s podcast, “Daddy Issues,” Tori opened up about the realities of monogamy. “The truth is, you’re two different people. I feel like humans, by nature, it’s really hard to be monogamous because we’re always changing,” she confessed in June. “And if you’re not on the same page, you have to try to change again, evolve, and stay in sync with each other. It’s a constant process.”

Thankfully, Dean and Tori, who’ve been together for over a decade, only have eyes for each other. “I’m madly in love with my husband. I’m really blessed, 14 years. 14 in May,” Tori gushed to Closer Weekly during an event. “Yeah, I look at him every day, and I’m like, I’m so in love with him. Even when I’m mad at him, I look at him, and I think he’s so hot.”

Dean echoed her sentiments, saying, “It’s mutual. I popped in after the gym to see her to get my hair relaxed. I have a wave in my hair. I was like, ‘Babe, you’re so beautiful,’ and she’s like, ‘You’re crazy,’ and I’m like, ‘About you.’ You’ve seen the foils, right? And the outfit she had on, she was so cute. I said, ‘You look cute, adorable, and beautiful.’”
