How Savannah Guthrie Marked Her Special Day

After a wonderful Christmas filled with joy and laughter, Savannah Guthrie woke up on Friday, December 27, to an outpouring of birthday wishes from her closest friends and family. The 48-year-old news anchor, known for her charm and wit, couldn’t help but express her heartfelt gratitude. She took to Instagram to thank everyone who made her special day even more memorable with their kind words and warm wishes.

“Thank you for all the birthday wishes!!” she wrote in her post. “I’m feeling so incredibly grateful this year as I reflect on all the blessings in my life. My kids and my husband are the very center of my heart. My mom, sister, and brother are the essence of my life. And my late father, though he’s no longer with me, is always in my thoughts and heart.”

I’m grateful to work at a place that is full of joy and where I still learn every single day from the devoted and awe inspiring professionals I share time and space with. I posted this picture because it hung in our kitchen for my whole childhood. I was so embarrassed of it and myself! Because I was chubby and my hair was crazy and of course the whole “not wearing a shirt because I was two” thing got more and more embarrassing the older I got. At one point I took it down and hid it from my mom!! But now I embrace it and embrace my life and know the source of all good above all things, and the source of comfort during many tears and disappointment, has been God – who was with me from this very day, 48 years ago!!

Reflecting on Life’s Joys and Challenges

Savannah went on to express her appreciation for the incredible people who have filled her life with joy, love, and laughter. “My friends, whether they’re old or new, near or far, have made me the happiest, luckiest, and most beloved person year after year,” she continued. “I’m incredibly fortunate to work in a place brimming with joy, where I continue to learn something new every single day from the incredible professionals I share time and space with.”

She also shared a throwback photo from her childhood, which she explained had a special place in her heart. “I posted this picture because it hung in our kitchen for my entire childhood,” Savannah reminisced. “As a kid, I was so embarrassed by it! I thought I looked chubby, my hair was wild, and not wearing a shirt at two years old only became more awkward as I grew older. At one point, I even took it down and hid it from my mom! But now, I’ve come to embrace it, and with it, my life. I’ve learned that the source of all good things, and the comfort during tough times, has been God — who has been with me from the very first day I was born!”
