Hey there, friends. In his first live show since the passing of his mom, Gloria Vanderbilt, Anderson Cooper took a heartfelt moment during his CNN show to share how he’s feeling. The legendary journalist, who’s no stranger to tough conversations, revealed just how lonely life feels now that so many of his close family members are gone.
Reflecting on His Final Days with Gloria
At 52 years old, Anderson Cooper sat down on his show, Anderson 360, to pay tribute to his late mother, Gloria Vanderbilt, who passed away at the impressive age of 95 after battling an aggressive form of stomach cancer that spread through her body. Anderson spoke candidly about those final moments with his mom, describing them as nothing short of extraordinary. "Being able to spend those nine days and nights with her was a great, great blessing," he shared, his voice filled with emotion. "They were the most extraordinary days of my life, and I’m deeply grateful. Even though I was holding her hand and her head when she took her last breath, it’s still hard for me to believe she’s really gone."

Dealing with Loss and Loneliness
Anderson went on to talk about the other losses his family has faced over the years, his voice heavy with emotion. "My dad died when I was just 10, and my brother when I was 21. She was the last of my immediate family, the last person who knew me from the very beginning," he said, his words resonating deeply with anyone who’s experienced similar heartbreak. "They’re all gone now, and it feels incredibly lonely. I hope they’re at least together now," he added, his voice tinged with hope and longing.
