Now, when it comes to cool moms, Reese Witherspoon is at the top of the list. The star of Big Little Lies recently took to Instagram to share a hilarious video where she learns all about the wildly popular social media app, TikTok, from her son, Deacon. It’s like she’s the ultimate relatable mom trying to stay hip with the times.
Mom Knows Best... or Does She?
In the video, Reese, who’s still as charming as ever at 43, sits down with her son Deacon Phillippe. The conversation kicks off with Reese's playful tone: “Deacon, this is very important. I’ve brought you here because I have questions for you.” She dives right in, asking, “It’s about TikTok. What is TikTok?” Now, you’ve got to give her credit for not just assuming she knows everything. She’s genuinely curious, and that’s what makes it so endearing.
Deacon, who’s almost 16 and definitely more tech-savvy than most adults, explains that TikTok is a "short-form video platform" where people upload clips of themselves set to popular songs. The beauty of it? You can do pretty much anything while the music plays. Whether it’s dancing, lip-syncing, or just being silly, TikTok is all about creativity and having fun.

Should Reese Join TikTok?
Reese, already a social media sensation, asked her son if she should take the plunge and join TikTok. Deacon, showing the patience of a saint, reluctantly agreed to help her create her very first post. But not before she showed off her dance moves. Now, if that’s not the ultimate mom moment, I don’t know what is. Reese is all about embracing new experiences, even if it means stepping out of her comfort zone.
Her friends, of course, couldn’t help but chime in. Jennifer Garner commented, “You two together—🤩🤩.” Reese’s A Wrinkle in Time costar Mindy Kaling added, “I’ve watched this nine times. You are so funny. I can’t believe how polite your son is.” Even Today’s Jenna Bush Hager weighed in, saying, “This is so good. Please teach me how to raise such well-behaved kids.”
Reese's TikTok Debut: A Hit or Miss?
Though it took Reese a little while to get the hang of TikTok, we’ve got to admit, the Oscar-winning actress really nailed it. Her ability to groove and adapt to the latest trends is impressive. Her TikTok debut was nothing short of amazing. If you ask me, she’s a natural. Here’s the video for those who haven’t seen it yet:

Reese's Relationship with Her Kids
Reese shares a close bond with all three of her children — daughter Ava Phillippe, 20, and son Tennessee Toth, 7, included. However, lately, she seems to be connecting with Deacon more than ever. Maybe it’s because he’s growing up so fast and already beginning to drive — and doing a pretty good job at it too.
“Oh, God. God help us all,” Reese joked during a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show. “He’s a good driver. He’s actually a better driver than I am. I get distracted a lot because I see cute dogs.” She went on to explain, “I’m like, ‘Oh, I’ve got to pull over!’ I will literally pull over and get out of the car if it’s a bulldog. Only a bulldog. I’m very preferential to certain breeds … if it’s being walked by somebody and it’s really cute.”
Given Reese’s love for dogs, it’s no surprise that the family’s new bulldog, Lou, made a star appearance in the TikTok video. It’s clear that Lou has already stolen everyone’s heart.
