During a lively appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Monday, September 16, Marie Osmond opened up about her latest role on The Talk and shared some heartfelt memories about growing up in the spotlight as one of Hollywood’s most beloved singers. But it wasn’t until the 59-year-old icon confessed her favorite way to relax after a long day that the audience really leaned in and laughed along with her.
Marie Osmond’s Unexpected Hobby: Cleaning!
“Oh, it’s so boring,” Marie chuckled, prompting Stephen and the audience to erupt into laughter. “But seriously, I love to clean,” she admitted with a sheepish grin. “When I get home, I just dive right into tidying up the house. It’s like therapy for me!” While most people might not consider scrubbing surfaces as a form of relaxation, Marie insists it’s actually incredibly soothing. “It clears my mind and makes me feel accomplished,” she quipped, proving that even stars need a little downtime to recharge.

Though Marie might now enjoy tidying up her home, she wasn’t always so enthusiastic about chores. “When I was 16 and the Donny & Marie show was being translated into 17 different languages, I thought I was the coolest kid around,” she reminisced with a laugh. “I was like the Selena Gomez of my generation!” But even back then, she learned early on that fame didn’t exempt her from responsibility. “One night after a 16-hour day, I walked into the house, and my mom told me I needed to do my chores,” she recalled. “She wasn’t impressed by my excuses about how busy I was with schoolwork and rehearsals. In fact, she added more chores to my list!”
