Eric McCormack Jokes About the Next 'Will and Grace' Reboot

Hey there, folks! If you're anything like me, you're trying to wrap your head around the fact that Will & Grace is wrapping up again. This beloved sitcom, which originally aired for eight seasons from 1998 to 2006, came roaring back in 2017, delighting fans with its reboot. Now, as we head into 2020, we're saying goodbye once more after three seasons of the revival. It’s a bittersweet moment for all of us.

Eric McCormack’s Vision for a Future Reboot

Eric McCormack, who plays the iconic Will Truman, has some pretty interesting thoughts about what a future reboot might look like. Imagine this: a world where Will, Grace, Jack, and Karen are all living it up in an old folks’ home. Sounds wild, right? That’s exactly what Eric joked about in a recent interview with Closer Weekly and other reporters.

Eric shared this vision at the annual brunch honoring The Rape Foundation on October 6, 2019. He mentioned, “We’re going to do an old folks’ home reboot in about 10 to eight years.” It’s a playful suggestion, but it shows that the cast isn’t ruling out another return in the future. Eric added, “This one felt right to do on our own terms. We came in from nowhere, and we’ll get out with class, I hope.” As they’re about halfway through the season, it’s a bittersweet moment for everyone involved. It’s a job Eric could see himself doing for a very long time, but he never imagined he’d get a second chance.

Now, you might be wondering if Eric and his co-stars, Debra Messing, Sean Hayes, and Megan Mullally, will ever team up for a Will & Grace movie. While Eric sees some logistical challenges, he’s definitely open to the idea. The main issue is that Will & Grace is a multi-camera sitcom, and translating that to the big screen could be tricky. Eric explained, “It’s one of those things where, like Sex and the City, it existed as a single-camera show, so making a movie is just a longer episode. Our show, however, is a sitcom, and I’m not sure how that would look on film.”
