So, Sailor Brinkley Cook has stepped into her mom Christie Brinkley’s dancing shoes on 'Dancing With the Stars,' and her partner, Val Chmerkovskiy, is drawing some interesting comparisons. Val, who previously worked with Rumer Willis in Season 20—where they ended up winning together—is noticing some striking similarities between these two incredible women.
Val Spots the Parallels
After the October 7 episode of 'Dancing With the Stars,' Val opened up to Closer Weekly and other reporters about what he's observing. "There are a lot of similarities," Val explained. "It’s not just about having famous parents. It’s about the incredible individuals those famous parents have raised. Both families have done an amazing job nurturing strong, thoughtful young women who bring their unique energy to the dance floor."
Val has been watching Sailor and Rumer evolve through the years, and he’s impressed by their transformations. "With the help of the show, Rumer found herself in so many ways and reimagined her confidence," Val reflected. "And now, Sailor is doing the same. In both cases, their families have been nothing but supportive. It's truly beautiful to see these parallels, and it would be wonderful to get them together to celebrate each other's journeys."

While it's still early in the season, Val and Sailor seem to have a strong chance at winning the competition. But Sailor, ever humble, isn’t ready to talk about winning just yet. "I don’t like to say that we can win because I feel like it’s tempting fate," she admitted. "There’s a fine line between confidence and being overly competitive. I’m just excited to keep moving forward week by week. Talking about winning scares me a little. Let’s see what happens—we’re going to give it our all."

In the audience, Sailor can always count on her mom, Christie Brinkley, to cheer her on, along with her sister Alexa Ray Joel’s dad, Billy Joel. "I call him my Uncle Billy all the time," Sailor gushed. Val, for one, is also a massive fan of the legendary "Piano Man" singer.
