When John Stamos and Caitlin McHugh welcomed their first child, Billy, back in April 2018, they were over the moon. The couple couldn't wait to grow their family, but they quickly realized that their current living situation wasn't quite cutting it for raising kids. Living in what Caitlin described as John's "bachelor pad," which he'd been in for 13 years, just wasn't the right environment for a growing family. It was beautiful, sure, but not exactly family-friendly.
Why the Move Was Necessary
Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Caitlin opened up about their decision to hold off on expanding their family until they found a more suitable home. "We were living in John’s bachelor pad, basically, that he’s been in for 13 years and it’s a beautiful house," Caitlin explained. "But it wasn’t really set up for raising a family. I decided, let’s wait until we move — which we recently did." The move wasn't just about space; it was about creating a home that could nurture and support the family they hoped to build.

New Beginnings in Los Angeles
Fast forward to now, and the couple has settled into a stunning new home in Los Angeles. The move wasn't just about finding more space; it was about building a life centered around community. "We’re all about community now," Caitlin shared. "We moved into Hidden Hills... We’re settling in the house in the new area and now feels like the time to really try [to have another child]." The timing feels right, and they're excited about the possibility of growing their family.
Planning for Baby Number Two
"We’re not [pregnant] yet, but we are trying," Caitlin gushed. "We’ll see, hopefully in the new year we’ll be able to add to our family." It's clear that both John and Caitlin are ready for the next chapter in their family journey. They've thought long and hard about how many kids they want, and Caitlin has a pretty good idea. "I’d be happy with one more," she revealed. "My arms can only grab so many children at once. I might get a little stressed out with more than two. I don’t know, we’ll see!"

The Joys of Parenthood
Being a mom has been a wonderful experience for Caitlin, and she's soaking up every moment with Billy. She's been paying close attention to all his little milestones, even catching his first kiss! "He’s in this music class and he loves to give hugs and kisses to everyone," Caitlin joked. "And there’s this one girl, he came up, gave her a hug, came out a little bit and grabbed her face and planted a huge kiss on her lips!" It was a moment that made Caitlin laugh but also reflect on the importance of teaching consent, even at such a young age. "Part of me was like, ‘Do I stop it? Do I let this go? Do we have to teach about consent already!?’ He’s kind of young for this, but it was really adorable. He’s just a lover, and I’m grateful."
There's no doubt that John and Caitlin are going to be amazing parents to baby number two. Their love for Billy and their thoughtful approach to parenting shine through in everything they do.
