There’s nothing quite like a family photo session filled with laughter, love, and a little chaos. Catherine Zeta-Jones recently gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at what it’s like to capture three generations in one frame. The Oscar-winning actress shared a delightful video on Instagram, showing just how much effort goes into getting the perfect family shot.
On Sunday, November 10, Catherine posted a video that perfectly captured the essence of family bonding. The clip featured Catherine, her 16-year-old daughter Carys, and her mother Patricia. In the video, Catherine can be heard encouraging her mom and daughter to smile for the camera, all while adding a touch of humor to the moment. “Three generations of chaos,” she captioned the post, adding a playful nod to her Welsh roots with “Welsh girls do it better.”
As the video unfolds, Catherine’s mom jokes about not being in her best angle, and Catherine hilariously chimes in with, “I don’t think this is my good side.” Amidst the playful banter, Catherine keeps the energy high, shouting, “Smile! Cheese!” Eventually, the trio manages to capture the perfect moment, filled with genuine smiles and laughter.

The Response Was Pure Love
As soon as the video went live, fans couldn’t help but comment on the authenticity and joy radiating from the Zeta-Jones family. One commenter expressed admiration for the natural connection between Catherine and her family, saying, “Love how natural you and your family are together. It’s a real breath of fresh air.” Another fan added, “Best laugh of the day! Real women. Real love. So British/Northern to say Nanna too.”
Family Values
Catherine, who shares her children Carys, 16, and Dylan, 19, with her husband, actor Michael Douglas, has always been vocal about her desire to raise her kids away from the pressures of Hollywood. In a previous interview with ET, she revealed, “We’ve kind of shielded them away, but they’re incredibly mature for their tender years.” She went on to say, “They get it, and that’s just a thing where I think that I just got lucky.”
Catherine explained that her children have been somewhat insulated from the fast-paced world of Hollywood and the bustling life in Manhattan. “The teenagers here in Manhattan, there’s a maturity that comes too quick I think,” she noted. For Catherine, giving her kids the space to grow naturally has been a priority, allowing them to develop into well-rounded individuals.

Empty Nest Syndrome
While Catherine and Michael have always been focused on their children, they recently revealed that both Carys and Dylan have now ventured out on their own. Speaking at a PaleyFest NY event for The Kominsky Method, Michael, 75, shared, “You spend a lot of time talking about your kids, and all of a sudden… and then we got over that very quickly!” He added, “And now we’re like, ‘wow, we can do anything in our schedules without… obviously the holiday stuff.’ But other than that during the week and everything. So we’re taking full advantage of that, seeing a lot of shows and traveling a lot.”

It’s moments like these that remind us of the love and connection that bind families together. Whether it’s a candid video or a heartfelt conversation, the Zeta-Jones-Douglas family continues to inspire with their authenticity and warmth.
