After 14 incredible years of marriage, Trisha Yearwood still can’t help but feel a spark whenever her husband, Garth Brooks, walks into the room. "I am that sappy person," Trisha candidly shares with Closer Weekly in their latest issue, available now on newsstands. "But it’s such a wonderful feeling!"
A Love Story Like No Other
While Hollywood and the music industry often see their fair share of broken marriages, Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood prove that true love and soulmates do exist. Garth, now 57, and Trisha, 55, have defied the odds and built a relationship that continues to thrive year after year. "I had been married for just 13 months to my first wife, Sandy Mahl, when I met Trisha," Garth reminisces with Closer Weekly at a celebration for A&E's Garth Brooks: The Road I’m On. "When someone asked me what I thought of Trisha, I said, 'I feel like I just met my wife.' It was weird, but it was also incredibly true!"
A Friendship That Blossomed Into Love
Though their connection was immediate, Garth and Trisha didn't officially become a romantic couple until 2002 — a delay that Garth now considers a blessing. "If we'd gotten married earlier, either my career wouldn’t have reached the heights it did, or our marriage wouldn’t have lasted," Garth reflects. "I feel incredibly fortunate for the way things worked out."

The Secret to Their Success
Trisha credits the time they spent as friends before becoming a couple as a key factor in their enduring relationship. "We've always had a profound respect for each other," she explains. "It’s the friendship and the respect that keep us strong. That’s the foundation, and the fact that we laugh together all the time is what keeps things fun and light."
Building a Family Together
After tying the knot in 2005, Garth and Trisha embraced their roles as co-parents to Garth's daughters from his previous marriage to Sandy Mahl: Taylor, 27, August, 25, and Allie, 23. "I didn’t have children of my own, so being a bonus mom to these three incredible girls was something I didn’t realize I needed," Trisha shares. "I’m so thankful to have them in my life."

A Family That Thrives Together
Garth emphasizes that the family they've created — though non-traditional — has been a source of joy for everyone involved.
