Hey there, folks! Ryan Reynolds stopped by Jimmy Fallon'sThe Tonight Show to chat about his latest projects, upcoming films, and his adorable trio of daughters. During the December 12 appearance, the Deadpool star shared some funny parenting moments, especially when it came to his eldest daughter, James, and her budding interest in acting.
James Reynolds Wants to Be an Actress: Dad Ryan's Reaction
As the two sat in front of the studio audience on the iconic set, Jimmy, 45, asked Ryan about something no actor wants to hear their kids say. “I heard she said to you the words no actor wants to hear their kids say. She said she wants to get into acting?” Jimmy inquired. Ryan, 43, reluctantly shared that his almost 5-year-old daughter, James, indeed wants to follow in his footsteps. “She wants to be an actor, yep,” Ryan confirmed.

Parenting Challenges: Ryan's Advice to James
Ryan, the proud dad who shares James, Inez, 3, and a newborn baby daughter with wife Blake Lively, explained his perspective. “I’m fine if you want to be an actor. Like, go ahead. In school, do after-school stuff — that’s all fine,” he said. But then he added, “And right now, it’s every day like a recital. She’s singing songs, she’s doing little plays at home — all that stuff.” Ryan went on to explain, “But like, being a child actor and in movies and stuff? That’s like a whole other ball of wax.”

Ryan's Hilarious Take on Child Acting
At first, it seemed like Ryan was on board with James pursuing a career in acting, but then he quickly changed his tune. “I try to — I explained to her. I was like, ‘Look, you know that’s a huge burden on your nervous system. You know, having to process all of that attention and information. And you develop all of these unhealthy coping mechanisms,’” Ryan hilariously explained, drawing laughter from the audience. “And she just looked at me, like she didn’t know what the f–k I was talking about,” he joked. “And I was like, ‘Here’s what’s cheaper and easier is like, let’s just skip showbiz and enroll you right into cocaine,’” Ryan teased, as Jimmy could be heard saying, “Oh, my gosh. No, no, no.” “Because showbiz is not good for kids,” Ryan continued. “I feel like we should know this by now, right?”
Ryan's Visit to the Today Show: Family Updates
Earlier in the day, the handsome heartthrob visited the Today Show, where he chatted with Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin about his personal life and family. While opening up about his youngest daughter — who was welcomed into their family after Blake, 32, secretly gave birth this summer — Ryan had a hilarious reason for why they haven’t revealed their baby girl’s name yet.

When asked how he and his Gossip Girl star wife came up with the name for their third child, Ryan joked, “We haven’t [named her] yet! We’re gonna be original and — all of the letters in her name are silent … I want to give her something to push against in life.”
We hope Ryan and Blake’s daughters grow up to have his admirable sense of humor!
