Prince George and Princess Charlotte Embrace Tennis: Following in Mom Kate's Footsteps

While their days are often filled with school and official royal engagements alongside mom, Duchess Kate, and dad, Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte love to unwind outdoors. A royal insider recently shared with Closer Weekly that these young royals are already cultivating a passion for tennis, their mom's favorite sport.

Why Tennis Runs in the Family

Kate Middleton has long been a dedicated tennis enthusiast. Growing up, she frequently played with her sister Pippa and has always cherished attending Wimbledon. However, she's eager to refine her skills, which is why she's currently taking lessons, according to a source close to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

Not only is Kate focused on improving her own game, but she's also encouraging her children to develop a similar passion. The royal insider revealed that 6-year-old George has already begun tennis lessons and absolutely loves the sport. "He's even asked for a new tennis racket for Christmas," the source shared. Meanwhile, 4-year-old Charlotte will start her lessons next year, but she's already been practicing her swings with Kate.

For the family to enjoy tennis without the constant attention of paparazzi, they often visit The Hurlingham Club in Fulham, London. This private, members-only club offers them a serene environment where they can spend quality family time. "The grounds are stunning, making it the ideal place for George to learn tennis," the insider noted.

George and Charlotte, the older siblings to 1-year-old Prince Louis, adore their visits to The Hurlingham Club. One particular highlight for them is the Adventure Play Zone, where they can enjoy thrilling activities like the zip wire. "Kate sometimes struggles to get them to leave because they're having such a great time," the source revealed with a laugh.

Duchess Kate first hinted at George's passion for tennis during a conversation with friends at the 2019 Wimbledon Tennis Championships. As reported by Wimbledon Morning Coffee, Kate shared how George not only admires tennis legend Roger Federer but has even played a set with him before. During her visit, Kate was seen chatting with British tennis player Katie Boulter and former star Anne Keothavong, enthusiastically discussing George's experience with his tennis idol.

While George is destined to become King one day, it's fascinating to imagine him potentially carving out a career in the world of professional tennis. Who knows, maybe we'll see him on the court in the future!
