While Queen Elizabeth and the rest of the royal family are preparing for their traditional Christmas celebrations, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have decided to take a different route this year. They're heading to Canada to celebrate the holidays with their adorable son, Archie. Now that's what I call a well-thought-out plan!
Spending Quality Time in Toronto
The royal couple will be spending their holiday at the home of Meghan’s close friend, Jessica Mulroney, and her husband, Ben, in Toronto. According to a source close to Jessica, this is exactly what Meghan envisioned for Archie’s first Christmas. “Meghan wanted something simple, cozy, and relaxing,” the source exclusively told Closer Weekly. “She’s looking forward to a quiet holiday where they can all hang out in their pajamas in the living room, laugh, and enjoy each other’s company without the formalities of a traditional royal celebration.”
And let’s not forget Harry! He’s just as thrilled about the trip. The insider added, “Harry was genuinely excited too. Plus, since Canada is part of the Commonwealth, it made their getaway much smoother, allowing them to avoid a lot of unnecessary questions from the press.”

Why Canada Feels Like Home

Canada holds a special place in the hearts of both Meghan and Harry. “The Duke of Sussex has visited Canada many times over the years, and it was also home to The Duchess for seven years before she joined the Royal Family,” a spokesperson for the couple told Us Weekly. “They’re enjoying sharing the warmth and hospitality of the Canadian people, along with the breathtaking landscapes, with their young son.”
Archie's First Christmas
Of course, Archie’s first Christmas is the highlight of the season for the couple. “They’ve already started talking about getting a massive Christmas tree for Frogmore, which they’ll decorate as a family,” another source exclusively revealed to Closer Weekly. “They can’t wait to see the joy on Archie’s face when he sees the tree all lit up and covered in decorations!”
