At the 2019 Thespians Go Hollywood Gala on November 18, Nia Vardalos spilled the beans exclusively to Closer Weekly. She revealed that the idea of a third movie has been on her mind quite a bit lately. “I’m thinking about it!” she exclaimed, confirming the rumors swirling around the fan community. Now, before you get too excited, Nia isn’t spilling all the beans just yet. When asked about the plot, she kept things under wraps, joking, “If I tell you, I’m gonna have to blowtorch you right in the forehead.” Classic Nia!
Who’s Coming Back for the Ride?
Now, here’s the part that has fans really excited. Nia hinted that the entire gang could be back for the third movie. Think John Corbett, Lainie Kazan, Elena Kampouris, Michael Constantine, Andrea Martin, and more. Why? Because, as Nia puts it, they’re “very close” and keep in touch all the time. She even joked about their reunions, saying, “Just the occasional orgy,” which had everyone laughing. Of course, she was kidding, but it’s clear the cast shares a special bond.

Life Advice from Mom and Herself
When it comes to advice, Nia Vardalos is a treasure trove of wisdom. Her real-life mom, Doreen Christakis, gave her some priceless advice years ago. “My mom told me years ago that you should conduct yourself as if a video camera is on you at all times,” Nia shared. “Isn’t that good advice?” And if that wasn’t enough, her mom also had a beauty tip that’s stuck with her: “Put on some lipstick, you’ll feel better!”
But the most important advice Nia has taken to heart came from herself. Drawing inspiration from her recent play Tiny Beautiful Things, Nia realized the importance of creating her own material. “I wasn’t getting cast in a drama, so I wrote one and realized that’s what I have to do,” she explained. “I have to take my own advice that I give students all the time, which is to create your own material. Even if you think you cannot write, maybe a friend of yours can. That’s what I keep doing, I write roles I want to play.”
