At the age of 81, Sir Anthony Hopkins shows no signs of slowing down. Despite being a seasoned veteran in the entertainment industry, the legendary actor is still fully committed to his craft and enjoys every minute of it. “I’m a workaholic. I act; I paint; I play music; I read a lot. It keeps the brain active,” Anthony revealed to AARP the Magazine for their December/January issue. And with a zest for life like his, it’s no wonder he plans to keep working until the very end. “I’ll go on working until I drop,” he said with determination.

But even a workaholic needs a break sometimes, and Anthony owes much of his downtime to his supportive wife, Stella. While he often finds himself immersed in creative pursuits, whether it's painting in the studio or rehearsing lines, Stella knows when to step in and remind him to take a breather. “Stella is good at keeping me in a harness. I spend hours in the studio painting, and she’ll come in and say, ‘Enough.’ I don’t have much common sense,” Anthony admitted, speaking fondly of his partner. The couple, who tied the knot in 2003, may not have shared children, but their bond remains as strong as ever. In fact, Stella is currently working on a documentary about her beloved husband, a testament to their deep connection.

Anthony’s journey to fame wasn’t always easy. As a child, he was often misunderstood by his peers and teachers. “One of my teachers told her I was a mystery [when I was young],” Anthony recalled. “I didn’t speak to other kids; I didn’t play sports; I didn’t even go to the school plays. But I was tired of being called stupid, and I thought, ‘One day I’ll show you all.’ And I became this other person. My career took off.” That determination to prove himself has clearly paid off, making him one of the most respected actors in the industry today.

Anthony’s portrayal of the iconic Dr. Hannibal Lecter in the 1991 film The Silence of the Lambs remains one of his most memorable performances. The role not only earned him an Oscar for Best Actor but also cemented his place in cinematic history. “I have an instinct for those kinds of people. They’re narcissists,” Anthony explained, delving into the psychology of the character. “I don’t know if that’s in me — I just understand them. And I’ll never escape from that guy. When I started reading ‘The Silence of the Lambs’ script, I told my agent, ‘This is the part of a lifetime.’ It changed everything for me.”
